New Host Property 2008/09
Mokanger Pastoral Company is the new Host farm for 2008/09.
When shearing starts next May at the 1700 hectare western Victorian
wool property ‘Mokanger’, owner Mark Rayner and manager
Shane Arnold will be watching closely to see if their goal of reaching
an average of 16 microns across the 21,500 Merino flock is realised.
Since Mr Rayner bought the Cavendish property in 1992 he has been working
to refine his micron range to differentiate his product in the commodity-driven
wool market.
The 2006/07 year average adult fibre diameter was 17 microns, cutting
43kg/ha of clean wool, or 12.7kg/ha/100mm of rain with a stocking rate
of 12DSE/ha.
We thank Mokanger for working with us and look forward our 2008/09
trial.
Entries for 2008
We have had a fantastic response from breeders for the 2008 trial.
The committee and host property owners reserve the right to evaluate
the entries, mainly for their suitability for the host property flock.
After this evaluation it is the arrival of the registration form, blood
sample from the ram and availability of semen that dictate the final
list of rams for the trial. Please send in the registration form to
ensure your ram is considered.
AI is set to be mid April at Mokanger.
