Victorian Merino Sire Evaluation Trials
Trial Participants
Participant sires belong to some of the finest Merino genetics in Australia
today. Entries are sought from Victorian district studs and interstate.
Credit should certainly be given to participating studs who are prepared
to offer an objective benchmark of their sires for both current and
potential clients. It gives an indication of the commitment of these
studs in their endeavour to continually provide an improvement in genetics.
Each participant supplies frozen semen for artificial insemination
in March/April in each year of their trial entry. The maximum numbers
of entries for each year depend on the availability of the number of
commercial ewes at the host site.
Each participant receives several mail outs per year from the Group
ranging from newsletters to progress reports.
